TOGAF™ 8 Certification
The Open Group® Architecture Framework (TOGAF™) provides an industry best practice architecture framework for the implementation of Enterprise Architecture.
The framework is comprised of the Architecture Development Method, the Enterprise Continuum and the TOGAF™ Resource Base. These three components form the method, structure and contents of the framework.
Our four day tailored course is designed to provide both a comprehensive look at Enterprise Architecture and TOGAF™ as well using specific client material that is familiar to the students.
The objective of the (Armstrong Process Group) course is to enable students to be able to implement, understand and manage the Enterprise Architecture for their organisation as well as providing the benefit of certifying the student as a Certified TOGAF™ Practitioner.
-
Module 1: Introduction to TOGAF™
Introduction to TOGAF™ provides students with an introduction to The Open Group® Architecture Framework (TOGAF™).
The course begins with a discussion of enterprise architecture, what it is, and the business value it brings to an organisation.
Students then discuss common architecture frameworks – their similarities and differences – including TOGAF™, MDA, Zachman, and DODAF.
The course continues with an overview of the Architecture Development Method (ADM) – the process described in TOGAF™ for building, managing, and evolving enterprise architecture.
Then the TOGAF™ Enterprise Continuum is reviewed including the Technical Reference Model (TRM) and Standards Information Base (SIB).
Students review key elements of the TOGAF™ Resource Base including architecture governance, architecture views, and building blocks.
The module concludes with discussions on how traceability and modeling relate to enterprise architecture.
This module is designed to last 1 day and is broken down in Sessions 1 and 2 in the schedule.
-
Module 2: TOGAF™ ADM Fundamentals
TOGAF™ ADM Fundamentals provides students with a case study based experience with the Architecture Development (ADM) – a component of The Open Group® Architecture Framework (TOGAF™).
The course begins with an overview of the structure of ADM and its relationship to the Enterprise Continuum and Resource Base.
The course discusses key architecture stakeholders and how to adapt the ADM to an organisation.
Students will discuss the foundation of sustainable enterprise architecture – requirements management and traceability.
The course then describes how to capture a vision for the architecture and assess organisational readiness.
Then the approach to evolving baseline and target architectures for the business, data, application, and technology domains is discussed along with gap and impact analysis.
Then the module reviews effective migration strategies, piloting new implementations, governing architecture compliance and change management.
This module is designed to last 2 days and is broken down in Sessions 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the schedule.
-
Module 3: TOGAF™ Asset and Resource Overview
TOGAF™ Asset and Resource Overview provides students with a case study based experience of the TOGAF™ Enterprise Continuum and TOGAF™ Resource Base.
Beginning with an overview of the key component of the Enterprise Continuum – the Architecture Continuum, Solutions Continuum, and Foundation Architecture – the course then discusses the Technical Reference Model (TRM) and its application and platform taxonomies.
Students are then introduced to the Standards Information Base (SIB).
The course explains how the Integrated Information Infrastructure Reference Model (III-RM) enables enterprise interoperability via Boundaryless Information Flow™.
Key elements of the TOGAF™ Resource Base are discussed such as architecture maturity/skills/principles, business scenarios, and case studies.
Then students focus on describing architecture views using various frameworks.
The module concludes with a discussion of architecture and solution building blocks and critical success factors for tool adoption.
